A figurehead is a carved wooden decoration found at the prow of ships.
This sort of item contributes to the various ship stats. These stats can be upgraded even further by upgrading a figurehead at shipyard boss when it reaches certain amount of experience or by using various refining stones that can be found throughout the game.
Some special figureheads provide an ability which displays cannon firing range.
Figurehead slot (shown in red)
Figureheads are equipped in the figurehead slot. Every ship has one figurehead slot available.
Figureheads do not have durability which makes them permanent items that never have to be taken off and repaired. They have weight attribute. While stored in ships inventory, they will take up portion of the ships load. After equipping, they will become weightless, they will not take any of the ships load.
Figureheads can be crafted using Ship-building skill. They are also dropped in various battlefields and instances from various ships.
Figurehead types[]
Figureheads were originally divided into three types:
- Fire figurehead - provides extra cannons. They are designed for and can only be equipped on battle ships.
- Water figurehead - provides extra load. They are designed for and can only be equipped on merchant ships.
- Wind figureheads - provides extra sailors and sail power. They are designed for and can only be equipped on adventure ships.
Later this type of division was abandoned and replaced with mixed type figureheads which can be equipped on any ship type, as long as the ship level corresponds to figurehead level.
Figurehead upgrade[]

Figureheads can be upgraded at Shipyard Boss in any city. Every figurehead will require different amount of materials for the upgrade as well as experience. Experience is gained by having the figurehead equipped while battling at sea.
Each figurehead can be upgraded limited amount of times, which is indicated by the failure number on the figurehead. Failure numbers are randomly gained upon production of the figurehead and additional ones can be added by using Figurehead Refinement Tool. A successful upgrade will add a random stat bonus to the figurehead. A failure will reduce the number of failures available. Once the number of available failures reaches 0, next fail will destroy the figurehead. In theory, figurehead can be upgraded unlimited amount of times, as long as it doesn't fail. Each upgrade will consume all of the experience figurehead has gained, which then has to be collected again for the next upgrade.
Figureheads can also be upgraded in guild hall at the Guild Caretaker. This upgrade will consume guild contribution instead of experience.
